| Man starves brother to death for eating his noodles A Japanese man starved his sick brother to death for eating some of his instant noodles. Masashi Matsumoto then carried on living with his brother Isao, keeping the corpse in his flat, say police. Matsumoto has confessed to neglect over the death of his brother who he was looking after at home in Akashi, Japan. "Isao ate some of my instant noodles without asking for my permission, so I thought I'd teach him a lesson by not feeding him," the 46-year-old acupuncturist told police. "After about 10 days I peeped in on him in his room, but he was already dead. I didn't have any money for a funeral and thought I'd be blamed for his death, so I left the body where it was." He has been charged with neglecting guardianship responsibilities resulting in death and illegal disposal of a body. Police say Matsumoto admitted the allegations but places some blame on his dead 44-year-old brother, who suffered from a debilitating nerve disease that made him almost bedridden. Matsumoto's mother had cared for her younger son until her death last year, when responsibility fell onto Matsumoto's shoulders. When the brother died, Matsumoto would use his house during the day, but sleep outside in his car at nights, reports Mainichi Daily News. An Akashi Municipal Government employee became suspicious after failing to see the younger brother for some time. 28th December 2001 |
