| Satanic killing trial gets under way The trial of a couple accused of taking part in Satanic killing has started in the German city of Bochum. Manuela Ruda and her husband, Daniel, are charged with the murder of former workmate Frank Haagen. The couple are suspected of killing him in a Devil-worshipping ritual, on a Satanic altar made of skulls and bones in their flat. The 33-year-old was hacked to death with a machete before his head was crushed with a sledgehammer. Daniel Ruda, 26, and Manuela, 23, are not allowed contact with each other in the city's jail. He is reportedly being held in a Hannibal Lecter-style isolation cell after drinking his own blood and sharpening his nails until they were like razors. 16th January 2002 |
