| Jilted lottery winner sent cheque copy to his 'ex' A retired traffic warden who scooped £175,000 on the National Lottery has sent a copy of his winning cheque to his ex-fiancee. Dave Raglan was dumped just months before he won the cash and decided to get get revenge, Manchester City Magistrates Court heard. The 54-year-old had been bombarding Denise Crisan with silent phone calls after she ended the relationship last March. Raglan, of Prestwich, has been fined £100 after admitting harassing Mrs Crisan. A restraining order was also imposed, banning him from contacting her for the next two years. Alan Richardson, prosecuting, told the court: "The letter caused her a great deal of distress as she was only just getting over the phone calls." Mr Richardson said the silent phone calls had got so bad that Mrs Crisan had contacted BT to put a trace on her phone to expose Raglan. Chairman of the bench, Cedric Hayes, warned Raglan that if he attempted to contact Mrs Crisan he would face a prison sentence. Mr Hayes said: "It's not the worst case of harassment but if you break the order you will go to jail for six months." Speaking after the hearing, Raglan said he had been engaged to Mrs Crisan for eight years before they split up. He said: "I have learned my lesson and I don't want to see or hear from her again." 25th January 2002 |
