| Police name prostitute murder suspect Police investigating the murder of a Norwich prostitute have released the name of a man they want to question. The body of 23-year-old Hayley Curtis was found in a shallow grave in Hampshire by a group of ramblers. Hayley, a heroin addict, had disappeared from the Mile Cross area of Norwich last October. Now detectives have revealed they want to question a traveller called Philip Stanley who was known to have met Hayley in Norwich on the night she disappeared. Mr Stanley was living at the time at a travellers' site at Fern Hill in Harlow, Essex. Officers have disclosed that Mr Stanley was questioned about Hayley's disappearance. But shortly after that he moved away from the site. Detective Chief Inspector Martin Jelley said: "Philip Stanley is an important suspect that we need to trace and interview in relation to the disappearance of Hayley Curtis. "The picture is becoming clearer that Hayley appears to have been living on the Fern Hill site in October with Philip Stanley. "We are keen to trace members of the public who may have seen Philip or Hayley in October or November in or around the Essex area." Officers are still trying to piece together how the body came to be 187 miles away from where she was living. Ramblers found her body near a slipway to the A3 in Petersfield. The body was clothed and partially covered, but had been disturbed by animals. Details of how she was killed have not been released but it is known that an initial examination of the body was inconclusive. 23rd January 2002 |
