| Fresh appeal over prostitute murder The mother of a prostitute murdered in a frenzied attack has made an appeal for help in catching her killer. Michaela Hague would have celebrated her 26th birthday on Thursday. Her body was discovered in the Spitalfields area of Sheffield on 5 November after the mother-of-one had suffered multiple stab wounds. Her mother Jackie Hague, 44, described the effect the tragedy has had on the woman's five-year-old son Kane. She said: "They were always together and now he hasn't got a mum anymore. "He knows she's gone but he's not sleeping very well. He's thinking about her every night." As she appealed for further information from the public to help catch Michaela's killer, Mrs Hague said: "I want anyone who knows anything to do with this person to come forward before it happens again. "He's out there free and we've all got a life sentence. "It's been 11 weeks but sometimes it feels like yesterday. There are so many emotions you go through - a pain tears through you. I can't explain the pain." Leading the South Yorkshire Police murder investigation, Detective Superintendent Paul Broadbent said officers were particularly keen to trace a man in his 50s who called himself Roger who may have witnessed the attack. He said: "We are spending a lot of time trying to trace that witness, which could and should be spent looking for our suspect. I want him to contact us urgently." Michaela, who was from the Pitsmoor area of the city, had worked as a prostitute for about two years. 24th January 2002 |
