Estate agent dies in 'motiveless' stabbing

An estate agent stabbed in the street outside his home in a "totally motiveless" attack has died from his injuries.

Timothy Robinson, 25, was stabbed up to half a dozen times in the face and chest in front of his girlfriend, in Battersea, south London. He died in the intensive care department at St Thomas' Hospital in central London on Wednesday afternoon.

A hospital spokesman said Mr Robinson's family were "devastated" by his death following the attack, at 2200GMT on Sunday.

Mr Robinson was stabbed after picking up his girlfriend Jemma Joyce, 26, from London's West End and driving her back to Warriner Gardens. Ms Joyce, a student teacher, was approached by two men as Mr Robinson parked his car. He got out to ask the men where they wanted to go and within moments they had stabbed him repeatedly in the face, chest and upper arm.

Neighbours and passers-by were alerted by the screams of Ms Joyce. The men were chased by a passing woman motorist, but she was forced to let them go after they stopped and flashed a knife at her. Mr Robinson, a partner in an estate agency in South Kensington, west London, was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Detective Inspector Gary Crump, leading the investigation, said: "It appears to be a totally motiveless crime. "There was no demand made of either of them and nothing has been stolen. "It is hard to put into words the ferocity and violence that was used for no reason. His family are absolutely devastated."

The two suspects were described as in their early 20s and wearing casual clothing. The knife used in the attack has not been recovered.
