| In brief... Seven held over drugs death Seven people aged between 14 and 36 are being questioned by police investigating the death of a woman in Bridlington. The 34-year-old is thought to have died from a heroin overdose. She was found after an ambulance was called to a flat in Trinity Road. The woman was taken to Bridlington Hospital, but was pronounced dead an hour later. ==================================== Race scheme success Police in east Lancashire say a scheme to encourage the reporting of racial crimes has been a success. The project in Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley allows crimes to be reported to specially-trained staff at libraries, supermarkets, mosques and youth centres. The information is then forwarded to the police. The police want the number of reporting venues to double to 28. ==================================== Men held after drugs raid Three men have been remanded in custody by magistrates in Bradford, after being arrested by police investigating drug production. They were arrested in Thornbury. Cocaine with a street value of £60,000 was seized. Jasbinder Samplay, 34, Abdul Jillani, 36, and Johnnie Parchment, 37, all from Bradford, are charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply and producing crack cocaine. ==================================== Body found in Humber Police are trying to identify the body of a man found in the Humber near Brough. The body was discovered by a group of people walking along the north bank of the Humber on Saturday evening, one mile west of Brough Haven. The dead man was white, with short brown hair and was wearing leisure clothing. He had been in the water for some time. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances. 3rd February 2002 |
