| Murder hunt goes online Police hunting the killer of a Dumfries man have launched a new appeal for help over the internet. Donald Nicholson, 43, was found dead in his flat on 11 September last year. Police say that a "substantial" reward is being offered for information which leads to the conviction of his killer. Mr Nicholson's brother Ronnie also joined police to renew an appeal for information last October. Now Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary has used its website to launch a fresh appeal. Mr Nicholson was last seen alive on 8 September and had died violently at some time during the following three days. An alcoholic with serious health problems, he walked with difficulty and rarely left his top floor council flat in the town's Dalswinton Avenue. Door-to-door inquiries were carried out in the area following the discovery of his body, but without success. An inquiry team dedicated to the search for the killer has been set up and can be contacted through the Dumfries police headquarters. A substantial reward has been made available for information leading to a conviction. 3rd February 2002 |
