Women are ill more than men

German scientists have found women are ill more often than men even though they live an average of five years longer. Health experts say women may understand their bodies better than men and that could help them overcome their illnesses.

Women are nearly twice as likely to admit suffering from headaches, according to the study. The Institute for Public Research in Allensbach, Germany, found 42% got headaches compared to 22% of men. Meanwhile 36% of women said they had problems sleeping while only 27% of men complained of such problems. A spokesman for the institute, which interviewed more than 2,000 people, said: "There is not one single illness or condition which men suffered more often than women."
