| Drink is the way to a man's heart, say the girls Britain's young women find getting drunk the best way to pull a bloke. A new survey finds 20% of women found consuming alcohol the best preparation for seducing a man. Cooking him dinner is also seen as a way to his heart, as were wearing tight clothes and getting the man drunk. Just 4% of women said they would buy the object of their lust a ticket to see his favourite football team. The survey also shows shopping is much more of a turn on than men most of the time - 46% of women think retail therapy "tempting", whereas just 12% think men are. The survey, produced for Kellogg's World Temptations, finds Carrie from TV's Sex And The City series was the most popular lifestyle role model among Britain's young, urban women. But while 23% would love to be more like sexy, confident Carrie, the research reveals only one in three are self assured enough to ask a man out and when it comes to seduction. Psychologist Susan Quilliam advises: "Carrie is a fantastic role model, she's confident, successful and sexy. What's more she knows what she wants (shoes, men, fun) and she's not afraid to follow temptation. "More young women should follow her lead - this can't do, won't do, even though I really want to attitude can be detrimental to our self-esteem and confidence." But while 45% of London women asked compared their lifestyles to Carrie's, only 6% in Leeds and 11% in Manchester did so. Leeds women see themselves more as Bridget Jones (34.5%) and Manchester girls say they resemble Ally McBeal (27%). 17th October 2001 |
