| Insurance chief quits £340,000-a-year job to watch children grow up The chief executive of one of Britain's largest insurers has quit his £340,000-a-year job to spend more time with his young triplets. Danny O'Neil announced his decision to quit less than two months after being promoted to head Britannic Group, reports say. He says he wants to watch his nine-year-old triplets, Patrick, Connor and Caitlin, grow up. Mr O'Neil is starting a three-day-a-week consultancy with Britannic close to his Glasgow home. He has the support of his wife of 19 years, Patricia, who has also quit her job as a part-time practice nurse. The 41-year-old says he made the decision after missing out on the childhood of his 18-year-old daughter Siobhan, reports say. Mr O'Neil told The Times: "This wasn't something I planned to do when I took the job, but as time went on I found it increasingly difficult to get the balance between work life and home life right." 17th January 2002 |
